01

Book in one minute

Send the free-trial request or call (202) 636-3453. Tell us who is training — you, your child, or your teen — and we'll confirm the right class for the age and schedule.

02

Get here & check in

We're at 720 Erie Ave, Takoma Park, MD 20912 — right off Carroll Ave, next to Koma Coffee, across from Washington Adventist University. By Metro, ride the Red Line to Takoma station. Bring comfortable athletic clothes (no pockets or zippers) and a water bottle — we provide the gi for your trial. Arrive 15 minutes early and check in at the door — Nilxon and the team will point you the right way.

03

Train a real class

Warm up with the group, learn a technique step by step, and practice with a partner at a controlled pace. It's a real class with our real students — not a sales presentation.

04

Decide with zero pressure

After class we'll answer every question and walk you through the options if you want them. No payment, no contract, no obligation — that's the standing rule for every trial.

The honest answers

The parts people actually worry about

Safety

Nobody is thrown in

Live practice is supervised and scaled to experience. Kids train age-appropriate technique with coaches on the floor; adults build up at a pace set with their coach. Tapping out stops everything — instantly, every time.

What to wear

Athletic clothes. That's it.

Comfortable athletic clothes with no pockets or zippers, plus a water bottle. We provide the gi for your Takoma Park trial, and enrollment includes a free uniform — kids, youth, and adults.

Etiquette

Clean, kind, on time

Check in at the door, train in clean gear, trim your nails, shoes off before the mats, and stay home sick. Respect is the first technique we teach — for kids and adults alike.

Meet the Coaches →
Gi vs. No-Gi

What's the difference?

Gi classes train in the traditional uniform — grips and controls that use the fabric are part of the game. No-gi classes train in athletic wear — faster, more wrestling-like, built on body control. Beginners can start in either; your coaches will point you to the right first session.

For parents

You watch. We coach.

Parents are welcome to watch every class. Your child trains with their own age group — Little Grapplers 4–6, Kids 7–12, Teens 13–17 — and coaches introduce everything step by step, in simple language, so no child falls behind.

First-class questions

Everything you're wondering

Send the request on our free-trial page or call (202) 636-3453. We'll confirm the right class for your age and schedule — then just arrive 15 minutes early.

Comfortable athletic clothes — no pockets or zippers — and bring a water bottle. At Takoma Park we provide the gi for your trial class, and enrollment includes a free uniform.

No. Live practice is supervised and scaled to your experience. Beginners drill technique with a partner at a controlled pace, and coaches decide when you're ready for more.

Jiu-jitsu is a contact sport, and no sport is completely risk-free — we won't pretend otherwise. What we control: supervised classes, age-appropriate technique for kids, partners matched by size and experience, and a room culture where tapping out stops everything, instantly, every time. Tell coaches about any injury before class.

Check in at the door when you arrive. Train in clean gear, keep nails trimmed, take shoes off before the mats, and stay home when you're sick. Respect your partners — you'll hear 'OSS' a lot here; it means exactly that.

Parents are welcome to watch every class. Your child trains with their age group, coaches introduce the basics step by step, and nobody is asked to perform in front of the room on day one. Shy kids find their voice here at their own pace.

Programs vary by how often you train, and we don't publish prices online. Come try a free class, and we'll walk you through the option that fits your family — with no contracts or long-term commitment.
