A Day at Jiu-Jitsu Summer Camp: What Camp Actually Looks Like
Structured training, games, lunch with new friends, and aftercare to 6:00 PM — a walk through a camp day at WDC BJJ in Takoma Park.
Parents choosing a summer camp want to know one thing above all: what will my child actually do all day? At WDC BJJ’s Summer Camp in Takoma Park — five weekly sessions in summer 2027 for ages 4–12 — the answer is a day built like our classes are: structured, supervised, active, and fun on purpose. Here is the shape of it.
Training is the anchor
Campers train jiu-jitsu in structured, supervised sessions across the day. Camp training is age-appropriate and built for a wide range of experience — most campers are brand new — and campers do not train submissions. Groups are organized by age and size, and the same coaching team that runs our year-round kids program runs camp.
Games, movement, and new friends
Between training sessions, the day is games and activities — the movement, coordination, and social play that make camp feel like camp. Camp runs 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with a midday break for lunch (families send lunch and a water bottle), and aftercare is available until 6:00 PM for families who need the longer day.
The details parents ask about
Camp is held at the academy, 720 Erie Ave in Takoma Park — our own parking lot, and the yellow-building kids entrance families already know. Enrollment includes a free uniform. Camp is a jiu-jitsu day camp run by our coaching team; we’re a martial arts academy, not a licensed childcare center, and we say so plainly so families can judge the fit. Dates, prices, and registration are on the Summer Camp 2027 page — registration is open now.
New to the gym? Start with a class
Many camp families begin with a regular kids class during the school year, so their child walks into camp already knowing the room and the coaches. Free trial classes run every week — book one on the free trial page — and the Camp FAQ answers the rest.
Your first class is free.
A real class with Professor Deivid’s coaching team and our regular students. No experience needed, no payment, no contract for a trial — and enrollment includes a free uniform.
